A Welcome from our Chair

I'd like to start by welcoming you to Southend Wanderers FC, a newly formed grassroots football club based in Southend-on-Sea.

I am extremely proud to be the first chairperson of this new club, and I look forward to leading the club as it embarks upon its exciting journey in grassroots football. I know there will be ups and downs, and I am certain there will be some challenging times, but it is exactly this type of journey that will forge the club into a strong, resilient, long-lasting club that will still be going strong many years from now. It is this lasting legacy that the very first committee have the great honour of leading the club on its first steps to.

As "Wanderers", we refer to the club as "our" club, and that really is the case, the club belongs to everyone involved in it. The club may have initially been formed by two people, but the initial formation was always built on the club;s memberes being heavily involved in the overall feel and design of the club. This ownership of the club is ingrained within the culture of the club, and it is something I am very proud of.

Everyone involved with the club is invested in making football truly for all. Starting with a single male team, we have already added a female tea, and plans are developing to increase provision beyond this as we grow. As a club, we are extremely proud to say that over 87% of our committee roles are held by women.

Things are developing quickly now that the current season is ending and there will be plenty of additions and updates as we progress through the close season and move towards the start of the 2024/25 season so #FollowTheWanderers and keep an eye on our social media platforms for more.
